I first met Andrew Pomerville in the summer of 2018. That was my last summer in college and I was working as an intern at the Law Offices of Gallagher, Everitt, and Associates in Alma, Michigan. I met Andrew at an event one afternoon after he opened the meeting in prayer. I mentioned to him in conversation that I was thinking about seminary, and as the new Chaplain at Alma College, he encouraged me to be part of the new pre-ministry program that he had started, and suggested that I think about Princeton for seminary.

Not knowing Andrew that well, I had no idea how persistent he was. Every few days, I’d see him around campus, and without fail he’d ask me to join the pre-ministry program and to think about Princeton Seminary. I’m not sure it was a coincidence, honestly it could have been God, but for whatever reason, I decided to give it a try. I showed up to the chapel and it was even better than what I could have imagined. In college, I had taken a step back from church, but that Sunday evening, Andrew invited me and so many other students into the chapel with love, care, and song. There’s a saying that “It takes a village” to raise someone. I don’t believe I would be your minister today had it not been for the part that Andrew played in getting me to Seminary. His theology inspires me, his ministry has shaped my ministry, and his pastoral care helped me at a critical juncture in my faith formation.

Friends, this upcoming Sunday, we will be welcoming The Rev. Dr. Andrew Pomerville, 11th President of Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary to our pulpit to preach the gospel. I’m excited for you all to hear his message, and to meet him.
