Music is an important part of worship and community life at First Presbyterian Church of Boonton. Whether you have sung for years, played an instrument, or simply want to try something new, there is a place for you in our music ministry.
Our Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir help lead worship throughout the year and welcome new participants. You do not need to be a professional musician or a member of the church. Bring your enthusiasm, your willingness to learn, and your desire to make music with others.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Boonton-Spring 2026
The Chancel Choir brings music to worship through hymns, anthems, seasonal selections, and special services throughout the church year.
Our choir includes singers with a wide range of musical backgrounds and experience levels. Some have sung in choirs for many years, while others are discovering choral singing for the first time.

- All voice parts are welcome
- Adults and older youth are encouraged to participate
- Friendly and supportive rehearsals
- Opportunities to sing in weekly worship and special services
- Seasonal opportunities for Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, and other celebrations
Handbell Choir
The Handbell Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Boonton-Spring 2026
Our Handbell Choir brings a distinctive musical voice to worship using our beautiful Malmark handbells and hand chimes. Each ringer contributes individual notes that come together to create one musical whole. If you can count, follow along with music, and are willing to learn, you can learn to ring. It is collaborative, engaging, and a lot of fun!

- Previous handbell experience is helpful, but not required
- Learn handbell techniques in a supportive environment
- Ring for Sunday worship and special seasonal services

Throughout the year, our musicians participate in Sunday worship, Advent and Christmas programs, Holy Week and Easter services, special musical events, and community celebrations.
We believe music gives us another language for faith, one that can express joy, reflection, hope, prayer, and praise when words alone are not enough.

Music Director – Sarah Jane Zollner
Sarah shares her musical gifts with First Presbyterian Church of Boonton as our Organist and Director of both the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir. Since joining the church staff in 2004, she has enriched our worship with music that reflects her joy, faith, and deep love of church music.
Sarah earned her bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in 2002, and later earned her master’s degree in Social Work from Marywood in 2008.
