When I think of the church and ministry, I think about the dreams we have about the future, of what God is calling us into, and then connecting those dreams into the resources we have available to us. Dreams, goals, ministry opportunities, faith development, listening to where God is
calling us, what will 2024 be about?

Proverbs 29:18 (KJV) Where there is no vision, the people perish. This year, the congregation will meet together to do some “Dreaming”, some visioning, some goal setting, some listening to where we feel God is at work in our community and how we can best respond as partners in God’s work. We will dream together, vision together, of what God is calling us into and then develop an intentional description of the pastor that will best fit the congregation and God’s dreams for our future.

As you wait for the time when an installed pastor joins you in ministry, there is still dreaming to do. What world do you want to make happen in 2024? What dreams do you have for your church, for this congregation, for your own faith journey? Do you spend time wondering about what
this world could be? That is ministry. When people stop and think about how the world is and how the world should be and how they can, with God’s help, move the world towards God’s best intended future, that is ministry. The world as it could be, could mean one more bag of groceries for a local family, a warm meal, or an ESL class for someone to learn English. The list goes on and on.

Together, with our dreams and the sharing of our time, talent, and treasure, we are partnering with God to build a better world.
